5 Players Other Than Messi and Ronaldo Who Could Win 2013 Ballon D'Or

BR - Lionel Messi had the Ballon d'Or under deft control long before the drawn-out ceremony in Zurich. The Barcelona star left his brilliant brushstrokes all over 2012, scoring 91 goals and being as generous with his genius as any player before him.

It was the fourth year in succession Messi has been crowned best player on the planet. The 25-year-old is without peer in the modern game and already the firm favorite to win the 2013 Ballon d'Or.

I don't see the what the point of this award is. How can one player be the best player in the world. I would like to see Messi or C. Ronaldo play as CBs or goal keepers and and be the best in that position too. Otherwise the Ballon D'or should be split into more categories depending on players trades. Goal Keepers, Defenders, midfielders and forwards at least.

Same as any sport, somebody has to get the MVP, I see what you're saying though, seeing other players get awards for their respective positions would be nice.

Completely agree! So many world class players haven't won because of Zidane, Ronaldo, C.Ronaldo, Messi, Figo, etc.

GK that deserve major recognition: Buffon, Casillas, Dino Zoff, Kahn, Schmeichel. Only 1 keeper has ever won European player of the Year and Ballon d'Or, that being Lev Yashin of the USSR.

Other giants in football history missed out like Maldini, Puskás, Raúl, dozens more, too many to list.

Awards per trade - 4. Then overall XI.

Chances are though, if they did they wouldn't do Goalkeepers because one would only make XI and they'll have a c*ck and bull story saying you don't need one.

Don't understand the hate the game has for Goalkeeper, imagine Juventus without Buffon, Madrid with Casillas, Bayern without Neuer, etc. Goalkeepers should demand more respect from the footballing world and push a union supporting them.
