Di Matteo hints at axing Torres for vital Chelsea clash with Juventus

The Italian has insisted he will leave the striker out if it is the "right thing to do for the team" as he looks to put the Blues in pole position to win Group E

The story is too old to be commented.

I think benching Torres is the right thing to do. Torres has started every game he was available for so far this season, so he could be fatigued. More importantly though, starting Sturridge would be a warning for Torres and show him that he needs to pick up his game if he wants to be our main striker in the coming games.

All the "Torres can't score" memes are coming back...I don't know how he snapped out of his goal-scoring drought last season, but he's gotta do it again, and fast!

Torres was sulking and looking disinterested most of the time during the last 5-6 months before he left Liverpool. IMO he has continued that trend at Chelsea. He looks like he's bored with either football(in general) or life in England. Maybe a move back to Ath Madrid can make him interested again?

I agree, he looks like he doesnt want to play anymore, he doesnt look like the old Torres thats for sure. Maybe in January he would get sent Spain again. I just cant seem to undrstand how someone just stops playing great football. I mean its just so frustrating, if i could rewind time to 2008-2009 season I could easily have said Torres was the best stiker in the world. Now hes just in he way and often unable to cope. Torres for God sake youre a striker, shoooooooooot at the goal.
He was at a time my favourite player, now i just find him frustrating to watch. but i still believe.
