Messi breaks Muller's record of 85 goals in a calendar year

The Argentine attacker surpassed the legendary West Germany and Bayern Munich striker with his two goals in the first half against Betis on Sunday night

The story is too old to be commented.

Congrats to Messi, doesn't matter under what circumstances it happened, it has been decades since Muller played, much has changed, all that matters is the stat. :)

Two great goals in yesterday's game. He's a phenomenon

I'm a Madrid fan, most know that here and I'd like to congratulation Messi on his achievement and I do believe he's the best attacking club player ever.

My position has changed, I don't see the why we can't have the best players in areas of the pitch.

Best Goalkeeper I've ever since: Iker Casillas
Best Defender I've ever since: Paolo Maldini
Best Midfielder I've ever since: Zinedine Zidane
Best Forward I've ever since: Leo Messi

Phantom disagrees! If you disagree, please explain!

I think it's because it's seen and not since

Didn't even notice that until you mentioned it! Well I'm dyslexic and couldn't see anything wrong with it. :/

he's still just 25! at the rate he's playing now, he's gonna gob all the records for the sports before he retires from the game and god knows when will we see another player like him!

Agreed. It's scary how young he is considering what he is achieving. World Cup medal or no World Cup medal, he is the best player ever in my opinion. I feel lucky that he was born in my lifetime!

I agree what he has done at his age is amazing but I would still like to see him play in the EPL or in a team not quite as good as Barca.

I know he has to score the chances his team mates set up for him which 8 to 9 times out of 10 he dose but I do feel he is helped by the players around him.

I do think he is one of the best players Ive ever seen but I still feel he needs to leave Barca and show what else he can do without the players he has around him in the Barca team.

But Congratulations to the guy what he has archived so far is amazing.

Why should he? Legends like Gerd Mueller and Di Stefano didn't switch clubs at their prime, neither did the greatest footballer to ever play the game, Pele. I don't get what's wrong with that. He's being loyal to a club that really helped him through difficult times. What about players like Maldini, Adams and Scholes who've spent their entire career at one club? Are they not great players as they didn't prove themselves in other leagues? As for the "His team-mates are making him look good" argument, this is a team sport isn't it? And I'm sure Ronaldo got more assists from Ozil last season than Messi did from Xavi and Iniesta combined. On the contrary, I think atm, Barca is more reliant on Messi than Messi is on Barca.

He doesn't need to prove anything in England or any other country as he has destroyed almost every top team around Europe in the champions league (except Chelsea of-course).
