The conditions these 2 players play/played this game are worlds apart from a physical, psyschological and even technological point of view.
I remember seeing a documentary were they put 2 professional players (dont remember who they were) where they were given cleats and a ball from the 60s and they point blank stated that you needed much more technic in the 60s than you need today. Players like Eusebio, Pele, Garrincha etc would be even more beastly today than they were in their time. Make no mistake about it.
i dont really blame him for saying something like that to be honest. eusabio is probably someone that figo idolized growing up and it must be difficult for him personally to accept that someone out there today is better.
similarly if someone 30 years from now were to say x player is better than messi many people who seen messi play today would be like "how about no!!" same with neymar/R9/pele etc.
all legends deserve their greatness to be remembered. who was better than who is purely based on which legends football style YOU preferred watching. just coz you personally preferred one over the other doesn't mean the other player isn't as good.
