Steven Gerrard suggested referee Cuneyt Cakir had been card happy after the first sending-off of his England career in Tuesday's 1-1 draw against Ukraine.
Captain Gerrard was one of nine players booked by Cakir in the World Cup qualifier at Wembley and was dismissed in the closing stages after picking up his second caution.
