...and I couldn't be more pleased about it! He's a bright spark in the darkness of the club's current plight.

The problem I think was that Cazorla didn't want to go to Spanish giants because he wanted to play. He also didn't want to be owed money. Last no other clubs from outside Spain offered more money.
