The story is too old to be commented.

What a waste of a career. That Ballon D'Or seems a lifetime ago.

It happens sometimes, he just peaked a bit too young!

At his peak however at I would say just 22 or so, he was a beast.

The Argentina goal was amazing.

He tore Germany a new one in that famous victory in 2001, one I won't soon forget I remember precisely where I was at the time.

Thirdly for me personally was the 2001 FA cup final where Liverpool were useless and Arsenal were all over them for most of the game, only to have the ball drop to Owen twice and he proceeded to tear apart one of the best defences around to score the winner and secure Liverpool the cup they had no right to after their final performance.

Dixon and Adams both mugged for fun. His pace was electric, they had yards on him to start and still didn't get close.

You don't have to remind me what he did for us, okay.

Retirement from what? getting payed obscene amounts of money to keep subs benches and physio rooms warm?

abzdine4046d ago

i'll never forget that goal against argentina in world cup 1998!

buddymagoo4046d ago

I'll never forget that goal against City in the last minute for us to win 4-3!

AcceptedWalnut4046d ago

I know yeah, bet the bars in london/singapore/dublin went wild with that one ....bless em.

@acceptedwalnut

Well we have support around the world unlike most teams so yeah they probably were.

The red half of Manchester was buzzing also, it's always nice to stick it into our one blue colleague.

Where abouts in Manchester are you from? After that thinly veiled dig you can't possibly tell me you are not from Manchester.

Hmmm... I wonder if he's going to retire to the MLS where all the washed up former stars end up. He could probably extend his career there till he's 40.

BlmThug4046d ago

He was never the same after the world cup 2006 injury
