'Fergie wants to re-sign Cristiano Ronaldo' - Pallister

Gary Pallister insists that Sir Alex Ferguson is keen on bringing Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo back to Manchester United in the summer, as the Red Devils look to build on their seemingly imminent record-breaking 20th Premier League title.

Victory against Manchester City on Monday evening will stretch United's lead over the reigning champions to 18 points but Pallister insists that Sir Alex isn't content and plans to send out a message of intent to rivals in England and abroad.

The story is too old to be commented.

I agree hes world class but utd wont splash the 80 million probably needed to get him back. UTD fans think they will but you gotta get real about these things Fergie refuses to spend that kind of money on players now. He used to way back when but nowadays hes more shrewd in the market getting players like RVP for 20 million and Hernandez for something like 8 million was it?

He won't pay 80m but he might cough up around 50m if the business side made sense after discussions with the owners.

United's revenue is soaring and they can separate themselves from City now once again because they generate so much more money.

Just the other day United sold their training ground name rights and training kit logo for a ridiculous 15m a season. Just to name Carrington and have their logos on the shirts that hardly even get seen on TV!

That is in addition to the huge main kit deal that starts next season with Chevrolet and will be the biggest of its kind in the world, and then the talk swirling of the biggest shirt maker deal in the world by miles that Nike will surely renew sometime this year....

Finally next season's TV money for the Premier League also rockets, and the winner should collect over 100 million, which United will no doubt by vying for.

All the extra cash flowing into the United coffers will certainly give them more clout in this new age of FFP than anyone else in the league.
