Bayern not better than Barcelona, says belligerent Dani Alves

The Brazilian defender has admitted that the Bundesliga champions deservedly progressed but feels they are not necessarily the better team

Dani Alves believes that Barcelona's 7-0 aggregate defeat against Bayern Munich in the semi-finals of the Champions League does not necessarily mean that the Bundesliga champions are the better team. (Barcelona, Bayern Munchen, Dani Alves, UEFA Champions League)

7-0 in two games.. not better ;)

Yes, better both the nights not overall better.

Barca got humiliated and slaughtered on both nights. Even if they played 10 matches, Bayern would've won each and every of them.

Yes currently Bayern is indeed better than Barcelona.

True, bayern were all over Barca. Maybe if they get a Quality CB and a striker, we could see them beating the likes of Bayern.

Something about Brazilian football players that just make them say the stupidest things. Dani Alves got it early I guess.

I take it, you're not Brazilian then. ;P

Bayern caught Barcelona at the perfect time- Messi not really fit, Puyol and Mascherano out.

That's only 3 players but 3 very significant key ones. You take the 3 key players from any side and it is severely weakened.

What is Man City without Aguero, Kompany and Toure. Or Madrid without Ronaldo, Ozil and Alonso. Much weaker sides.

If Barcelona had a fully fit 11 they would give Bayern a better game, although I do think Bayern have turned the tide. Maybe not quite as dramatically as 7-0 over 2 legs would suggest though.

I agree, and I still think even putting Messi in that away game was dumb, you could see him bending over at times, Bayern defenders knew they didn't have to do much to cover him, it worked against PSG but it was never going to work with Bayern. I still think Bayern would've won out either way, just not 7-0 in aggregate as you stated.

Who would you say United three key players are?

This season? Van Persie, Carrick and Ferdinand.

Oh Dani Alves.... of all the idiots, in all the idiot villages, in all the idiot worlds, you stand alone, my friend.
delicia  +   887d ago
He's not only idiot, everytime I see him play, he sucks. Barcelona should get a replacement for this idiot.
Sahil  +   887d ago
If you're saying Dani Alves sucks, you need to watch some more football, I mean Moooorrrrre.

Yes, I've seen maaaany good football players, I'm brazilian and I know a thing or two about football, so you can be sure that A LOT of people think like I do. Sure, Dani Alves may be a good player, but I've seen better, A LOT better, dozens of times.

Dani Alves needs to accept the fact that they lost to the better team...regardless of the disadvantages barca had. Bayern played a smarter, and more fierce season, they deserve it!
dennett316  +   887d ago
That's what happens when you're used to winning I suppose...you become an extremely bad loser unable to give credit where it's due.
When you've been so thoroughly outplayed, it's hard to claim you're the better team. A better team would be able to cope better with the loss of a few key players. Manchester United only lost the title to Manchester City on goal difference last season, despite so many of their central defenders being injured throughout the season...they had greater strength in depth than Barca do it seems. Are Barca a one man team...surely not?
