Paul Scholes retires for good

The former England midfielder initially quit in 2011 but was persuaded to return for United in January last year.

However, the 38-year-old, who is expected to make his first appearance since January in Sunday's Barclays Premier League encounter with Swansea, feels it is time to bow out.

"Yes I am finally hanging up my boots for good," he said.

My disappointment was not seeing him deployed in his favoured role for England enough, shoved out to the left for Lampard and Gerrard for all those years that he called it quits early.

His club career however is unquestionable.

England would have been a different side with a Lampard Scholes midfield two and we probably would have won something.

Maybe.. Just imagine Scholes-Lampard-Cleverly and Welbeck upfront with Phil Jones and Smalling at the back. England wud've conquered the world.

You wud'nt even win an international friendly cup, if there was one.
