The Germany star has completed his stunning £40 million move from Real Madrid to the Emirates, signing a five-year contract with the Premier League side.
We need to remember that, while we have a decent starting 11, we don't have a deep squad. Obviously Ozil is more than just a squad player. He's very likely to push the likes of Arteta and even now Flamini down the pecking order. But for the sake of squad depth, that's actually a good thing. It means we actually have high quality backup we can rely on. More importantly, Wenger can now go a lot easier on Wilshere now, especially given his current injury record.
our starting 11 could look really good with him even with all the injuries. Keeper Sagna Kos. Per. Gibbs Flamini Walcott Ozil Cazorla Giroud Rotation available when fit. Jens./Sagna...RB....Per/Kos/V er.....CB...Nacho/Gibbs/Ver...L B (Need one more CB) Diaby/Flamini/Arteta....(DMs) Wilshire/Rosicky/Ramsey/Ozil/ Cazorla/Arteta/Diaby....(CMs) Walcott/Podolski/Giroud/Sanog o/Ox/Cazorla/Ozil..(ST/Wingers ) Podolski, Walcott and now Sanogo(I hope he is quality) could play a few games leading the attack too in case Giroud cant. so, not too bothered with the lack of a new striker Ryo and Frimpong can get some games in the midfield and wings too. Looking at that list if it wasnt for the injuries Arsenal really have a good(small), but good squad. Maybe Ozil wasnt a priority, but its still nice to see some intent from the Club
Injuries are the only thing that could mar our season.
@imtiyaz6 "Injuries are the only thing that could mar our season." As they always do and seem to be doing a good job of this season as well. We REALLY need to figure something out when it comes to injuries.
I hope is true! We got a New KEEPER on loan! Need a CB! We got Flamini as a CDM! Anything else is the Icing on the cake!
Fantastic buy for Arsenal. Won't turn them into title contenders far from it, but is a top quality player the likes of which Arsenal haven't bought before. Spent the big dosh and got the world class required. Shame on Man United for not competing for him.
I think you're wrong. This will bring us closer to the title as long as we will be kept injury free. When Fabregas played alongside Adebayor he made him a natural goal scorer. With Ozil providing assists (he is rated the player with the most assists in the world) to Giroud I think it will make him a better player thus creating more goals and taking us possibly to the top 2. With a combination of Wilshere - Ozil - Cazorla and Ramsey this will create a very creative midfield. The only thing that bothers me is the defense, its very injury prone and that will be a problem.
Ozil is without doubt a brilliant player but by himself Arsenal aren't going to be title contenders. Arsenal needed more than one player, but it's a start I guess. You yourself recognise how poor your defence can be to be honest and you still don't precisely have the greatest strikers. You still lack a true top class striker up front. Ozil has improved the side but if you think that'll now make you contenders looking at the depth of City Chelsea and United 's squads then you may be in for a shock.
I guess we will have to wait until Christmas. If Giroud doesn't score goals, gets injured (he's had a brilliant start to the season, btw), then I believe Wenger will purchase somebody in January. Giroud has potential, especially when he gets the service he needs as a striker. Don't knock him out just yet.
Its now CONFIRM BY The English Media WE FINALLY GET SOME FIRE WORKS!!!!!
great signing for Arsenal!
Nice work Wenger!
indeed. most sensible transfer this window. great player for a reasonable price. Huge loss to madrid though.
It's hard to believe he is only 24 as well. Feels like he has been around forever. Goes to show how good he is. Arsenals midfield is possibly the best in the PL now. They just need to shore up that defense (they already have good defenders in my opinion, just need to tighten the screws) and good cover for giroud, who is looking better and better.
meanwhile United buy Bull$h$@ Fellaini.... good for arsenal but for F sake what the hell united
You would prefer Ozil? Who has the same role as Rooney, and even Kagawa. Fellaini isn't my first choice, but at least it's something new.
I think most of the United fans wanted a creative player that can play that final ball for the strikers. If Rooney gets his head straight he can do it, but it seems he wants to be the main striker and not play in the midfield. Kagawa seems to have been bought for marketing more than anything like Arsenal have with a couple of players from Asia. So he is not someone that either Fergie or Moyes ever thought off as a first choice player.
I agree. Fellani is decent but not 27m decent. Transfer fees are insane these days. I think ozil was the only one worth the big money.
How do Madrid fans feel about losing Ozil for Bale?
Bad, there are other crap on the team (khedira), we could offload but nope.. Everyone seems to like him for a reason not seen from the fan POV, but what can you do, I wish him luck, but I doubt he'll last long at arsenal.
Lol you're just full of negativity ain't you? Why do you think he's gonna flop? At arsenal he'll be the main ma non alongside cazorla, cazorla wilshiere ozil theo = best attacking midfield force in the league. Then include flamini behind them and our midfield is better then when we had nasri fabs wilshiere and song! Nasri would never get in this midfield now.
Great signing. Really good player.
Good for arsenal, they need a midfield with more fear-inducing players. Wilshere doesn't scare anyone. Though, this solidifies that Real Madrid are a bunch of ungrateful cunts. This guy was their biggest assisting player. Good luck getting Bale to let go of the ball.
I would of thought arsenal needed a striker and defender more than another midfielder, no ? I am surprised you didn't go for Sakho
CITY AND UTD won't win the title this year, both are not good enough atm.
