Man Utd job: How Champions League shock changes the picture

Real Madrid's stunning 4-0 thrashing of Bayern Munich at Allianz Arena on Tuesday has implications beyond the destination of this season's Champions League.

The story is too old to be commented.

Whoever they chose they need to do it quick. Or else without a manger in position they will have no vision when looking for players.

I have no idea who they are supposed to attract when they finish so low, have no European football and Rooney is on 300k a week. And that is £300k, not euros. The uproar here earlier in week when it was reported that Messi wanted 385k euros. That's just 16k more in pounds than what Rooney is on. Surely Messi is worth that much more a week and well beyond in comparison to Rooney. Either way, I think Utd have dug a hole for themselves which will take years to get out of.

I agree when they sign big name players they are going to want wages in comparison with Rooney thats a given and utd are not going to want to give that so are not going to be able to attract the bigger names as no CL and no massive wages = no chance..
Why do you think MCFC are the biggest paying club in world football in terms of wages?? As we couldn't attract players 3-4 years ago.. Now we are finally getting those high wages off the books each year and in 3 or so more years we should be a lot lower but it's going to take time..
