Perhaps but it summed up the group stage rather well. They just weren't good enough. Credit for the fight they put up once they went a man down and that Gerrard free kick - pure magic. Yet once gain its a game where I say oh Gerrard and Sterling played well and everyone else ehh.. That wasn't the case last year. Either way Sturridge get back here asap!
I'll be waiting for the new Liverpool book: "Make Us Dream II: the uplifting story of how Liverpool FC almost made it out of the CL group stages, and inspired a generation."
5 years to get back in and this is what they do. Simply embarrassing for the EPL that the top 2 could be going out in the group stage. Even Moyes managed to get the QF. Given the £225m Rodgers has spent, I doubt he'll be in a job much longer, though I hope he remains in charge :)
Whatever happened to the team that utterly destroyed us with their lightning quick pace at Anfield. This was not good enough, even without Suarez and Sturridge.
Unlucky for Liverpool. Maybe if they had Sturridge things would have ended a little bit differently.
