Allegations of widespread drug-taking have rocked Algerian football following the suspension of international Youcef Belaili and three other top-division players.
This is messed up. This isn't performance enhancing drugs that's getting the players in trouble, it's recreational drug use. The big player that was busted was taking amphetamines like ecstasy/molly/MDMA at night clubs as well as smoking marijuana. The Algerian FA president came out and slammed the player's night life and punished him for 4 years. This is more akin to what happened to Jake Livermore last year for Hull when he was busted with cocaine in his system.
