yes they can....if all they played the whole season was champions league and nothing else.
but using the current squad to challenge for the league and all the cups, fatigue will catch up very quickly with the players. by december/january they wont have a first team left.

They already could - just not well. The last season has certainly shown a rebuild that paid dividends. Now to strengthen and evolve.
