The British press have an uncanny habit of adding together two and two and coming back with the end result of about twelve. Or, in this case, the end result of seventy million. For that is the exorbitant amount of money that is being rumoured Chelsea are planning to fork out this summer for Liverpool's Fernando Torres.
Torres is apparently unhappy on Merseyside and, with Champions League football almost certainly lost for another year for Liverpool, it is expected by many that the Spanish international striker will demand a move away. It is also being argued that the club, struggling with massive debts and without the huge sums that participating in Europe's premier club competition brings, could be keen on cashing in on their star asset.
