World Cup oddity: Why are there so many ties?

Former Navy football coach Eddie Erdelatz once likened a game ending in a tie to kissing your sister.
Pucker up, World Cup. After 14 games, there have been six draws and the lowest goals-per-game average since 1978. In 2006, there were two draws after 14 games. From the ball to the droning monotone of the vuvuzelas, various theories for the lack of scoring and winning have been floated.

The story is too old to be commented.

I think that the thing that is causing this are the strategies that the different teams are making, its not the vuvuzelas or the ball...

more inclined to believe that the balls are causing so many ties...that fucking thing is as aerodynamic as a F1 car.
