Barcelona are ready to give up on signing Javier Mascherano from Liverpool.
The Spanish champions identified the midfielder as a perfect replacement for Yaya Toure, who signed for Manchester City this summer.
However, the Catalans face budget restrictions and have been put off both by Mascherano's high price-tag and the Argentina captain's preference to join up with Rafa Benitez at Inter Milan.
