Kolo Toure: I Relinquished Manchester City Captaincy So Carlos Tevez Can Become Our Diego Maradona

Ivorian reveals reason behind switch...

Kolo Toure has revealed the reason why he has been stripped of the Manchester City captaincy in favour of Carlos Tevez.

The Ivory Coast international was made skipper at Eastlands when he joined the club at the start of last season, but Tevez has been given the role by Roberto Mancini this year so he can be "more involved in the set-up", similar to Diego Maradona at Napoli.

“I was made captain of Manchester City by former manager Mark Hughes immediately after my arrival from Arsenal,” Toure told Sport Ivoire.
