Villareal demolished Espanyol tonight in a fairly scrappy affair at El-Madrigal. Giuseppe Rossi and Borja Valero scored in the first half and after the break Rossi completed his brace after converting a penalty and Nilmar got his name on the score sheet with a simple tap-in as Chica was sent off for Espanyol.
Villarreal took the game by storm and created their first clear-cut chance as early as the third minute when Santiago Cazorla ran down the left flank and fired in a low cross for the completely unmarked Borja Valero, who failed to put the ball in the net with his right footed finish, which fizzled narrowly wide of the left post.
