Seattle Sounders FC 2-0 CD Marathon: Michael Fucito Hits Brace

The Sounders entered the fifth round of the CONCACAF Champions League against CD Marathon knowing they would not be advancing to the quarter-finals. On Tuesday night, Saprissa and Monterrey played to a 2-2 draw. By earning one point, Saprissa effectively eliminated Seattle from the CCL competition.

A crowd of 11,768 saw a group of Seattle reserves walk away with a 2-0 domination of the side from Honduras. Fucito broke the deadlock in the 21st minute by beating Adolfo Machado to the ball. The Marathon defender was slow in clearing the ball outside the box, and the former Harvard player raced past Machado and let loose a left-footed volley that sailed inside the right post to give the home side a 1-0 lead.
