Cristian Chivu has been summoned to answer charges of "repeatedly making vulgar gestures to the fans of the opposing team" during Inter's Coppa Italia win over Roma in May.
Serie A's disciplinary panel are looking at video footage after the final whistle which shows Chivu making obscene gestures to Roma fans. Inter have also been called for their "objective responsibility".
Meanwhile, the sports judge has inflicted a three-match ban on Brescia's Alessandro Diamanti. He used abusive language against the referee after his sending off against Lazio on Sunday.
