Going into the game top of Group B, Ireland were humbled by a dominant Russia team for most of the game, but goals from Aleksander Kerzhakov, Roman Shirokov and a maiden international goal from Alan Dzagoev gave the away side a comfortable win despite a Robbie Keane penalty and Shane Long strike offering the home team hope.
