Gordon Strachan leaves Middlesbrough post

Manager Gordon Strachan has resigned as Middlesbrough manager following four defeats in succession, the club have confirmed.

Strachan's decision to walk away comes two days after Middlesbrough lost 2-1 at home to Leeds. During that defeat game which left Middlesbrough one point outside the relegation zone – the Riverside fans called for Strachan to go.

The 53-year-old former Celtic, Coventry and Southampton manager left with Boro languishing in 20th place in the npower Championship table having taken just 11 points from as many games to date this season.
