Schweini To The Rescue

Werdern Bremen were unable to avenge last season's DFB Pokal final defeat to Bayern Munich as the Bavarians edged a 2-1 thriller at Allianz Arena. Claudio Pizarro gave the away side the lead after 90 seconds but Bastian Schweinsteiger scored a double to fire Bayern to the third round of the cup.

The away side made a blistering start to proceedings as they opened the scoring after only 90 seconds. Marko Arnautovic caught the home team's defence off-guard as he stormed down the left-wing before playing a low ball into the box. Ex-Bayern striker Claudio Pizarro was on hand to divert the ball past Hans-Joerg Butt with his outstretched knee for the opening goal of the game.
