Manchester United step up interest in Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor

Manchester United have reportedly upped their interest in potentially acquiring the services of Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor.

The Red Devils' current custodian, Edwin van der Sar, is in the twilight of his career, having recently turned 40 years of age. It is thought that this season could be the Dutchman's last at Old Trafford.

Juventus shot-stopper Gianluigi Buffon, Schalke's Manuel Neuer and Ajax's Maarten Stekelenberg have also been linked with a move to the Premier League to ply their trade under manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

The story is too old to be commented.
