Morgan's late goal gives U.S. edge over Italy

Alex Morgan scored in stoppage time and the U.S. women edged Italy, 1-0, on Saturday at Stadio Euganeo in the first match of two-legged playoff for a berth in the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup.

The 21-year-old Morgan collected a long pass from Carli Lloyd and slotted past Italian goalie Anna Maria Picarelli four minutes into stoppage time to put the U.S. in front in the series with a crucial away goal.
