Speculation is increasing that Alan Pardew is set to be named the new manager of Newcastle United.
Newcastle owner Mike Ashley was on Wednesday continuing his efforts to land a new manager under a veil of secrecy.
Pardew remained the hot favourite to replace the sacked Chris Hughton as discussions, which began in earnest on Tuesday, resumed with a view to an appointment by the end of the week.
