Goal.com Christmas Shopping: Who Should Ajax Buy?

Expectations for Ajax going into the 2010-11 season were pretty high after only just missing out on the Eredivisie title in 2009-10. The club finished second in the table last year, only one point behind champions Twente. The club wasn't too active on the transfer market, but then head coach Martin Jol got the striker he wanted in Mounir el Hamdaoui. Additionally, free agents such as Andre Ooijer, Teemu Tainio and Mido joined the Godenzonen last summer. The most important thing for Ajax was holding on to star players Maarten Stekelenburg, Gregory van der Wiel and Luis Suarez though and the Amsterdam side were the sky high favourite for the Eredivisie title.

The story is too old to be commented.
