By Manuel Traquete: This article is complimentary to Michael Botsford's article defending the opposing thesis. It all started when, in the comment thread of one of Michael's articles, I said "I wouldn''t be surprised if no English made the semifinals again". Michael then "challenged" me to write a piece backing up that assertion, while he would publish one defending the opposite (that at least one English team is sure to make the semis).
