Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey will return to the club on Wednesday after attempts by Nottingham Forest to extend his loan deal failed.
Wenger wanted the player, who suffered a serious injury last season, back at the Gunners but concedes it may well be up to two months before he is back to anything like his best.
The Welsh international made two starts and three substitute appearances for Nottingham Forest during his short five week loan spell at the City Ground.
