Nashat Akram has issued an apology to Iraq fans after his side lost their opening Asian Cup game 2-1 to fierce rivals Iran.
The midfielder - a key figure in his country's stunning triumph at the 2007 competition - also said the pressure of being reigning champions is "normal".
