Captain Steven Gerrard admits seventh place in the Barclays Premier League is unacceptable for Liverpool and insists they have to improve.
Last night's 1-0 victory over Fulham, courtesy of John Pantsil's own goal, lifted the Reds to their highest position in the table this season.
Three months ago they were in the relegation zone after a disastrous start under Roy Hodgson but the return of Kenny Dalglish nearly three weeks ago has sparked a change at Anfield.
Liverpool are now within six points of fifth-placed Tottenham but Gerrard has warned the squad not to rest on the laurels.
"We want more than seventh, seventh's not acceptable at this club," he said.
agree, seventh plays is just a start on the climbing. 5th place just be a goal.
I'd be satisfied with 6th. Anything above that is a bonus.
I still don't understand how it got so bad. Yeah, certain players turning out to not be that good, but jeez! Maybe it's 'cuz Liverpool are one of those clubs that need a man-manager more than a tactician, something Benitez was not. Hogdson is a very good manager, but his tactics weren't suited to how a Liverpool team should play.
If Liverpool do improve significantly then it will get interesting at the top of the table. You'll have Man U, Arsenal, Man City, Chelsea, Tottenham, and Liverpool competing for the top 4 spots next season?
Now they can definitely do better than seventh. With Suarez that is.
