Manchester City defender Pablo Zabaleta feels that manager Roberto Mancini's style of play cornered Emmanuel Adebayor into walking out the exit door and joining Real Madrid.
The towering forward made only two starts in the Premier League this season, and had previously admitted that he was unhappy with his lack of time out on the pitch.
The arrival of Edin Dzeko from Wolfsburg put him further down the pecking order and saw him left out of recent matchday squads.
"I think the situation was becoming difficult as in the last few games he wasn't even in the squad as City signed Edin Dzeko," Zabaleta said, according to The Sun. "Mancini was counting on Dzeko as a striker.
