Ajax have confirmed that first-choice goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg will miss all footballing action for up to nine weeks with a broken thumb.
The Netherlands international custodian broke his right thumb during practice on Saturday and was initially slated to be out for between four and six weeks.
