Jay Spearing has been called up into England Under-21s’ provisional 40-man squad for June’s European Championships in Denmark.
The Liverpool midfielder, who last week signed a new contract, replaces Bolton’s Mark Davies who has been forced to withdraw due to injury.
It’s reward for the 22-year-old’s fine form in recent months with the Academy graduate having started the Reds’ last seven league games.
