Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has waded into the row surrounding Newcastle United’s Joey Barton on Twitter, leading to a heated exchange between the two after the game.

Barton got involved in a fracas with Arsenal’s Gervinho, leading to the latter being sent off on his Premier League debut, and Wilshere went online yesterday to criticise the Newcastle midfielder.

Nah you english always find someone to blame for england losing. beckham, ronaldo, seaman, the ref, the supporters, the cross bar, the other team, the ball, pitch, the weather. you won one world cup and you still go on about it, nearly 50 years on. god forbid if you win it again cause you'll never shut up about it.

it's also funny that if villa got barton sent off you would whinge for months after it. the media leading the way with the complaining. but as you said if joey did this you wouldn't even bat an eyelid.

I didn't even mention us winning it... you did. Ironic lol.

And obviously because he would be playing for us, but if we had a player that had hit someone else we'd know it was his fault anyway.

Also you're confusing me for someone who really cares how England do, I don't. I want Newcastle United to succeed, I watch England when Newcastle aren't playing basically lol
