If I were Fabio Capello (perhaps it's a relief I'm not), I would have a plan up my sleeve. A plan so brilliant it would shock the world: dump the disgraced stars completely and start again.
Why not? Germany did it. It would be fair to say that before the World Cup 2010, Thomas Muller and Sami Khedira were not world class footballing stars. They were accomplished Bundesliga players, sure, but they were not the household names they are today.
When Euro 2012 is over, England needs to start from scratch. I'm not talking managerial. No, I'm talking players. Get rid of them. Rio Ferdinand, John Terry, Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard, Gareth Barry, Jermain Defoe—out.
