Chelsea could have signed £30m on Fernando Torres by signing him for £20m in 2006. Swansea City boss Brendan Rodgers, who was Chelsea's reserve boss five years ago, has revealed that he advised the Blues to sign the Spanish striker for less than half the fee Roman Abramovich coughed up in 2011. "My recommendation was to take him," said Rodgers, recalling a scouting mission when he saw the then 21-year-old Torres score twice in the Nou Camp against Barcelona.
