BR - Liverpool spent big in 2011 in an attempt to reverse the terrible slide they endured during the previous year. New owners Fenway Sports Group sanctioned over £100 million-worth of transfers, although a large part of that was offset by the £50 million sale of Fernando Torres to Chelsea.
