Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United have accused Owen Hargreaves of talking rubbish after he suggested they had mismanaged the knee injuries that almost ended his career.
Former United midfielder Hargreaves - now at City - claimed this week that a series of injections administered during his time at Old Trafford left him feeling like a 'guinea pig' and like he had knees 'made of glass'.
Yesterday United manager Ferguson and the Barclays Premier League champions came out fighting. A club statement said that it 'did not acknowledge any validity in the comments' made by their former player.
Ferguson said: 'I've got a great medical staff. Do you think Alex Ferguson would have a bad medical staff? Do you think I would allow that? Absolutely no chance.
