Manchester United manager, Alex Ferguson hit back at former captain Roy Keane's damning assessment of his team’s Champions League exit.
Keane lambasted his old club in the wake of their 2-1 defeat to Basle in Switzerland last night, which dumped them into the Europa League.
The Corkman claimed it was "a reality check" for the likes of Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Ashley Young, all of whom received substantial praise for their performances during United's flying start to the season.
Clearly, Ferguson was unimpressed. "He had an opportunity to prove himself as a manager too. It is a difficult job," said the Scot.
I think fans hope it will be a reality check for Fergy who will realise his squad isn't good enough and will bolster it come January or at the very least in the summer as right now they are not looking like the Manchester United of old and thats worrying for fans. I talk to United fans at work and they say how poor they have been lately and how they don't think United deserve to win anything this season. A bit harsh maybe but maybe that would make Fergy rethink and buy players to help them improve and become a dominant force in Europe and England again.
if i was a glory hunter id be supporting city :/
