How much could Cahill realistically demand? The guy is supposed to be a cheap and quick signing for Chelsea, not a world class big name. He is probably demanding at least 80k a week to put him line with the other players at Chelsea. Overpaying players for years gets you this. Chelsea can only blame themselves.

So he has demanded a massive wage well over and above what Chelsea would have expected from a player of his stature. Maybe they thought he would just take 50k or something happily as its a leap over his current wage. I am a little surprised Chelsea would find a problem with his wages but seemingly they want to play hardball more rather than just flashing the cash.
