I see it as a double edged sword. Scholes is a true servant of the club but he retired because he himself felt his legs had gone and he could not make enough contributions to the big games. He was a wonderful player and is still very welcome, his presence alone can lift the team's morale.

He will still bring something to team but not long ago i noted how Arsenal took on Henry and it would help satisfy the fans short term but not cover over the problems long term. Tickling their bellies in the absence of a proper long term solution.

This may very well work the same. Manchester United should not (in truth) have to be in a position to bring him out of retirement, surely the plans should have been in place to replace him sufficiently enough that this was never necessary. I know there are a lot of injuries but only Fletcher and Cleverley (he should be back in a month) in central midfield- and United can't cope with 2 CMs out?

Still its happened now and i look forward to seeing one of United's greats in an encore and hopefully....someone will be signed in the summer so it doesn't have to happen again!
