‘Ever since I was punished they put me with the youngsters’ - Nicolas Anelka

The Frenchman was forced to train with the youth team, use separate changing rooms from the first-team players and park his car with the reserves after refusing new contract. (Chelsea, English Premier League, Nicolas Anelka, Other Leagues)

Shame on Chelsea. It's his right as a professional not to renew his contract yet they treated him like a prisoner.

Anelka would never have gotten that treatment at Liverpool. Any player that chooses to leave can do so. Meireles handed a transfer request to Liverpool the day before the transfer ended and Liverpool granted his request to Chelsea. The point is that you want to have players that are happy where they are, otherwise the team performance gets impacted
