No, that story is a bunch of bullshit. Think about it... Torres has been playing like crap lately. Why the hell would Abramovich axe Di Matteo for benching Torres, a player that was not playing well at all?
On top of that, why the hell is Chelsea trying to get a new striker (aka Falcao, Cavani, etc.) if "Torres is doing just fine." It's just that. Torres isn't playing well, therefore the team suffers, therefore Chelsea's chance of winning trophies this season is diminishing. That's why Abramovich is willing to dish out a lot of money for a good striker.
So think about it. Why would Abramovich sack Di Matteo for benching Torres, if Torres clearly isn't playing well and we're just going to buy a new striker come the next transfer window?
Torre's goalscoring ability seems to have gone to muck, but his workrate around the pitch is still something to admire.
You've got to feel for the guy, he's not laughing to bank pulling a Robinho or Adebayor whilst his talent goes to waste; his lack of confidence really seems to be taking it's toll on him.
And if Chelsea don't want him, then I'm sure Wenger would happily take him onboard. He helped inspire Henry to become one of the EPL greats after Juventus lost faith in him & I'm sure he'd do the same to El Niño.
I know what you're saying. I was/am a big fan of Torres. I can tell he's trying his hardest even though he's struggling. I don't mean to hate on Torres. I'm not dissapointed in Torres, I'm just dissapointed by the fact that people are trying to pin Di Matteo's dismissal on Torres' poor recent form.
Torres is still great. Form is temporary, Talent is forever. I'm just sad because I don't know if Chelsea is right for Torres. It's been 2 years now and we've only seen glimpses of his former self.
