Chievo Verona midfielder and United States national team star Michael Bradley appears ready to make a move to AS Roma, according to MLSSoccer.com.

The 24-year-old midfielder, soon to be 25, began his career in 2004 with American side Metrostars and quickly found his way to Europe. After joining Herenveen in January 2006, he missed the cut for Bruce Arena's squad for the United States at the World Cup.

Last season was by far the best of Bradley's career in terms of exposure. He made 31 appearances for the Flying Donkeys and earned the nickname of "The General" among the local fans.

Roma's American owner Thomas DiBenedetto has stated several times his interest in making Roma as popular in his home country as the likes of Barcelona, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Arsenal and Chelsea. To do this, he has his eyes on Bradley as well as Fulham's top scorer Clint Dempsey.

Dempsey set a record for American players in Europe with his 23 goals in all competition, and he passed Brian McBride for the all-time record for goals in the English Premier League for an American player. The 29-year-old has been linked to both Roma and Liverpool, but has stated his desire to play in the Champions League this year.

If Bradley signs, he could potentially make his debut for the Italian side in a friendly at Fenway Park on July 25, as part of the World Football Challenge.
