Brendan Rodgers has an open invitation to give Spain coach Vicente del Bosque a visit as he bids to get his new Liverpool team playing like European and world champions.

And the Kop boss has made a new move for Fulham star Clint Dempsey after losing out to Spurs in the battle to sign Gylfi Sigurdsson.

Del Bosque has secured a personal historic treble of the Champions League, World Cup and European Championship by leading Spain to Euro 2012 glory .

And the former Real Madrid manager rates Rodgers so highly that he has offered to pass on his knowledge to the 39-year-old Northern Irishman.

Rodgers had been due to visit Spain’s pre Euro 2012 training camp in Austria, but was forced to cancel while he moved from Swansea to Liverpool.

But now the Euros are over, Del Bosque has told Rodgers he can still drop in on a Spanish get-together whenever he wants or visit the 61-year-old personally to discuss their ideas and philosophies.

The news will delight Liverpool’s FSG owners, who appointed Rodgers because they are desperate for the Anfield team to play more entertaining and progressive football.

A source close to Rodgers said: “It is obviously a difficult time to find a date at the moment, but Brendan has an open invitation to meet Del Bosque and watch Spain train.

“I’m sure he will take up the offer at some point because Brendan loves to talk to people about the game, particularly very successful people.”

Rodgers speaks fluent Spanish and first crossed paths with Del Bosque when they were working in youth football, the Spaniard with Real Madrid and the Liverpool boss with Reading.

The pair were put back in contact by a mutual friend.

Having missed out on top target Sigurdsson , Rodgers has made a second enquiry about 29-year-old attacking midfielder Dempsey who has just a year to run on his Fulham contract.

Fulham are understood to be asking for £10million for American international Dempsey, who scored 23 goals last season, with Liverpool set to kick off the bidding at £6m.
