Newcastle Transfer News: Cabaye Wants Ba and Tiote to Stay, Santon Also Staying

Newcastle United's Yohan Cabaye, fresh from France's exit at EURO 2012, has urged his employers to reject any advances for the Magpies standout players from last season.

The North East side finished fifth in the league last season, earning a Europa league place as a result. However, their unexpected success has brought a price tag. A price tag that they can ill afford to pay. 

Many of their big names from last season, deadly duo Papiss Cisse and Demba Ba, as well as midfield enforcer Cheick Tiote, are on the radar of bigger sides like Manchester United and Real Madrid as a result of their high league position.

The French midfielder has called on owner Mike Ashley not to let all the good work go to waste, report Sky Sports:

Demba scored so many goals for us so it's going to be important to keep him - and keep all the big players, I hope the board are going to do the right things to keep them. I don't know if we can go higher than last season, but we have to keep doing the right thing.

Meanwhile, Italian full-back Davide Santon has dismissed reports linking him with a move back to the Serie A, as he told Italian sports website calciomercato.com:

I know Roma are looking for a right-back and they showed interest in me some time ago, but Newcastle immediately refused to give me up.That's okay for me because I have familiarised myself in England and I have no plans to move. I've only been here for a year and it is too early to pack up and come back to Italy.

The news that Santon is happy with life up North is undoubtedly good for Newcastle; the youngster progressed throughout the year and looks happy playing at on the left or right of defence. With doubts surrounding the future of current right-back Danny Simpson, the Magpies will need a focused and happy Santon more than ever.
