July 29, 2:45 P.M. EDT: vs. United Arab Emirates: 3-1 Win

Great Britain started off their 2012 Olympic journey in a friendly against one of the elite: Brazil. It was merely an exhibition loss against a top contender, but it prepped the team for the road ahead.

In their opening Olympic match on July 26, Team GB was in a stalemate against Senegal. Three days later, the squad showed its strength against the United Arab Emirates, pulling out a 3-1 victory.

It's worth noting that 2012 marks the first Olympic games for both Senegal and the United Arab Emirates soccer teams. However, neither club has been a pushover.

July 11: Friendly Match vs. Chile: 6-4 Win

July 15: Friendly Match vs. Panama: 2-0 Win

July 26, 12:00 P.M. EDT: vs. United Arab Emirates: 2-1 Win

July 29, 12:00 P.M. EDT: vs. Senegal: 0-2 Loss

After defeating Chile and Panama in the pre-Olympic friendly matches, Uruguay seemed to have a have mustered up a head of steam.

The team edged out the United Arab Emirates in their first Olympic contest. But on July 29, the Senegalese team derailed Uruguay in a stunning 0-2 triumph.

Predictions

Both sides have a history of Olympics success—albeit an ancient history of success.

Great Britain is a very talented soccer team, but Uruguay's downfield firepower will be tough to restrain. The results against the United Arab Emirates and Senegal should act as a barometer for the outcome of their August 1 match.

Although, it's a different ball game, and Great Britain would advance to the elite eight with a tie (cites ESPN.com).

With Uruguay's backs against the wall, Great Britain falls short in a 3-2 nail-biter.
